THE SELKIRK GRACE

Some hae meat and canna eat,
and some wad eat that want it,
but we hae meat and we can eat,
and sae the Lord be thankit.

A GRACE BEFORE DINNER

O thou who kindly dost provide
For every creature's want!
We bless Thee, God of Nature wide,
For all Thy goodness lent:
And if it please Thee, Heavenly Guide,
May never worse be sent;
But, whether granted, or denied,
Lord, bless us with content.

Robert Burns

During the winter, the Lunch club meets on the third Wednesday of the month in the church hall. In the coming session (2009 to 2010) meetings will take place on the following dates:

21st October
18th November
16th December
20th January
17th February
17th March
21st April

Each meeting begins at 1pm with a three course lunch costing £3. This is followed by entertainment from 2pm: typically this may take the form of a choir, a band, a duet, or an individual providing all types of songs and stories. We usually have a break for tea and biscuits at around 2.45pm and the meeting draws to a close at 3.30pm.

Transport to and from the meeting is provided on request for those who have difficulty getting to the hall.

Contact with the Lunch club can be made via Alastair McCulloch - telephone 317317.

The Lunch club is staffed by a team of volunteers.

Our numbers are remaining constant – if not rising – with an average of 50 lunches served per month.
