Meet some of our People

George Cowie serves as the minister of South Holburn. George is responsible for leading most services of worship and also offers pastoral care to our members and parishioners. He also serves as a school chaplain both at Harlaw Academy and at Broomhill Primary School.

Bob Brown serves as Pastoral Assistant at South Holburn and was appointed after retiring as minister of Queen's Cross Church. Bob helps to provide pastoral care for our members and parishioners and conducts occasional services of worship.

Alan Johnston is the Session Clerk at South Holburn. The Kirk Session offers spiritual and pastoral oversight to our congregation and it also has a leadership role in deciding our church's future direction. As Session Clerk Alan helps to co-ordinate other elders in their tasks of leadership and pastoral care.

John Gillies serves as Clerk to the Congregational Board. The Board manages many aspects of the congregation's life, in particular overseeing the church's finances and properties and also organising social events.

Adeline Gray serves as Church Officer at South Holburn. Adeline makes many of the practical arrangements for services and for other activities and also has a 'caretaking' role for the church and halls.

Bill Manclark is our Organist and Director of Music. As well as playing the organ at services of worship, Bill also leads the church choir. Bill was formerly the Head of Music at Turriff Academy and continues to work as an examiner for music pupils with the SQA .
